For prospective teachers who need additional experience with Pilates before starting their training, this class is designed to give students the Pilates foundation that is needed before starting the Pilates Plus training program. In this two month class, students will work one-on-one with a Pilates Plus instructor twice a week to bring them to the necessary level to be successful in the Pilates Plus training program.
This class is 2 months in length and sessions are held twice a week.
Course 001 - Beginner Mat
The beginner mat course is the foundation for all other courses as the information you will learn in this course will be the basis that all other courses build upon. You will learn to perform and teach 8 beginner level mat exercises and will also learn the philosophy, teaching formula and style of Pilates.
Course 002 – Intermediate Mat
In this course you will learn 13 intermediate level mat exercises as well as how to incorporate them into the beginner level sequence. This course will also help you develop your teaching skills so that you can be a confident and competent instructor.
Prerequisites: Beginner Mat course or assessment from instructor
Course 003 – Advance Mat
This course will teach you the full mat routine and the transitions that make mat work flow seamlessly and fluidly. Upon completion of this course you will be able to successfully work with students of all ages and fitness levels at the same time.
Prerequisites: Beginner and Intermediate Mat course or assessment from instructor
Course 004 – Certification
In order to become certified to teach Pilates mat classes the following requirements must be fulfilled after completing Courses 001, 002 and 003:
-20 hours of class observation
-20 hours of practice instruction
Course A-101 – Apparatus
This 2 week intensive program introduces you to the following Pilates apparatus: Reformer, Wunda Chair, Cadillac and barrel. This is the ideal class for people who have completed all 3 Mat certification courses and are at the intermediate/advanced level of their Pilates practice and teaching.
Prerequisites: Course 001, 002 and 003 or written permission to waive the mat courses from the instructor
Course A-102 – Anatomy
This course will cover basic biomechanics and anatomical terms as well as skeletal and muscular anatomy. This class will allow you to understand how Pilates affects the body.
Course A-103 – Certification
In order to receive your Pilates Plus Apparatus Instructor Certification the following requirements must be fulfilled after completing Course A-001:
-200 hours of class observation
-200 hours of practice instruction
-200 hours of apprenticeship
