Our Staff
Quality instruction is key to your success and satisfaction with Pilates. Our highly trained staff will help you get the most out of your workouts.
We will customize private and semi-private Pilates and IM-X sessions to suit your needs. Sessions include a personalized series of controlled, rhythmic, balanced movements on the mat and Pilates apparatus.
Jodi Brennan
Jodi has been teaching Pilates for some eight years. With over 3,000 hours
of traditional Pilates training, she also has a certification in Integrated
Movement eXercise (IM=X) to pump up her classes with a strength-training
punch. In addition to founding and running Pilates Plus, Jodi is also
responsible for making the acclaimed 'P3: Pilates Plus Power' DVD, available
anywhere from Barnes & Noble to amazon.com. She personally trains
all of the teachers at the studio in between raising two children, Devyn
and Hart, and working on her Ph.D. in Nutrition (she already has her Masters.)
Chris Brennan
Chris has been a part of Pilates Plus since he finished his Gyrotonic
certification in early 2007. Chris began his Gyrotonic quest after suffering
a severe back injury, and has found that the flexibility and strength
offered by it has healed him more effectively than anything else. He is
proud to bring this revolutionary new form of exercise to the studio,
and determined to help rehabilitate those with back injuries.
Lorie Scheer
Lorie has been a certified Pilates instructor since August 2005, and in
Gyrokinesis since 2003. A mother of two, Lorie 'quickly became addicted
to Pilates' shortly after her son was born in 2001. When she isn't teaching,
she likes to spend time reading, biking, and with her two kids, Allie
and Jacob, and her husband, Jeff.
Olga Fetisova
Olga trained at Pilates Plus for her teacher certification, and completing
her certificate this summer. Originally from Russia, Olga currently works
as a Senior Project Manager at Virtualscopics and is earning her MBA at
the University of Rochester-and somehow still finds time to teach and
practice Pilates. She lives with her husband, Bryan, and their cat, and
enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, and other outdoor activities.
Nicky Grovo
Nicky is also working to finish her certification over the summer. When
she isn't working at the studio, she is a part-time X-ray technician at
Borg Imaging. Seeing numerous patients with back injuries that could have
been prevented, or treated with Pilates exercises makes her feel particularly
strong about the value of keeping healthy.
Kate Baker
Kate has been a Licensed Massage Therapist by New York State since 2001,
after graduating from the Onodaga School of Therapeutic Massage. With
additional training in Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release techniques,
Muscle stretching, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Reflexology, and Zero Balancing,
she knows a thousand ways to put a smile on anyone's face. Dedicated to
full-body wellness and pain relief, Kate has been working at Pilates Plus
since 2004.
Melodie Adkins
Melodie is currently enrolled in the Pilates Plus teacher training program.
Having practiced Pilates for years, Melodie came to get lessons in December
2006 and decided to pursue teacher training at our studio when she recognized
the high quality of the work here. In her spare time, she and her husband,
Drew work on renovating their house in the city, or she paints brilliant
watercolors.
Rhonda Flint
Rhonda is another of our teacher trainees here at Pilates Plus. She is
also certified in a number of other fitness programs, such as: IM=X Pilates,
yoga, Cycle Reebok, National Strength and Conditioning Association, and
PACE (People with Arthritis Can Exercise). She is very passionate about
working with clients, and particularly believes in the benefits of one-on-one
training.
Marie Lovenheim
Marie holds a degree in Nutrition from Cornell University and teaches
nutrition at MCC. She has worked as a private nutrition counselor for
more than 20 years, helping people to approach health from an active standpoint,
which includes "eating well, supplementing the diet when necessary,
and maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle." Marie runs The Little
Green Café at Pilates Plus and does private nutrition consultations
as well. She has two daughters, one at Boston University and one a journalist
in DC, and a son in high school.
Amanda DiFiore, esthetician
Amanda graduated from the Continental School of Beauty in 2004 with her esthetician’s license. A mother of three, she has been working to provide excellent skin care, make up and waxing techniques to her clients ever since. With special training in less painful hard waxing and an eye for cosmetics, Amanda looks forward to joining Pilates Plus and providing men and women with the confidence of looking and feeling their very best.
Cie Flowers
Cie is the creator of Wing-Kido-Kai, a Western style of kickboxing that
he developed in Germany in 1975. A veteran of the Vietnam war and a former
military policeman, he dedicated himself to perfecting his new style of
martial arts after winning the European World Kickboxing Championship.
Experienced in a number of different martial arts, from Karate and Tae
Kwon Do to the more western styles of kickboxing and wrestling, Cie looks
forward to teaching his new style here at Pilates Plus.
Yoga Instruction
We have a complete staff of fully qualified yoga instructors.
